Born in a rural town in Arkansas, Ron Yee is currently a partner and presenter for Wooden’s Wisdom, sharing Coach John Wooden’s Playbook for Life and Leadership. He now resides in Orange County, CA, is a proud graduate of the UCLA Class of 1984, and is highly involved with the UCLA Alumni Association. Ron has served as President of the UCLA Orange County Alumni Network, Co-Chair of the UCLA Parents’ Council, committee member of UCLA Chancellor’s Society, host of Dinner for Twelve Strangers, alumni mentor, scholarship reviewer, and more. He also founded the UCLA Actuarial Society.
Ron shares how stepping foot onto the UCLA campus opened his eyes to the many possibilities available there. He grew up as a fan of sports, particularly basketball, and was exposed to many other sports once he settled in Southern California. Coach Wooden became a mentor to Ron because many of the lessons from the Coach applied both on and off the court. He is very familiar with the Coach’s Pyramid of Success and shares how he lives by the various building blocks.
As a Bruin parent now, Ron continues to serve the University as a College Fair Alumni Representative. He is the recipient of the 2017 Ron Nakamura Volunteer of the Year Award from the UCLA Parents' Council. He is also active within his local community by serving on committees and educating teens on leadership skills. Ron's background in Information Technology has led him to revamp many of the Wooden’s Wisdom presentations to include videos of Coach Wooden himself. He is a wonderful example of a Bruin great who has impacted our world of athletics in a unique way.
