Lee Jay Berman became a full-time Los Angeles mediator 27 years ago. He has since mediated over 2,500 cases and is an International Academy of Mediators’ Distinguished Fellow and a National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN) Charter Diplomat. An AAA Master Mediator panelist for employment matters and on AAA’s national roster for commercial and construction disputes, Mr. Berman trains mediators through the American Institute of Mediation, locally and around the world. He founded the American Institute of Mediation after seven years as Director of Pepperdine Law School’s Mediating the Litigated Case program (ranked #1 nationally). The Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA) gave Lee Jay their L. Randolph Lowry Award for his success in educating others. He has trained mediators, judges, attorneys, and business leaders across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe, as well as in India, Dubai, Uzbekistan, Australia, and New Zealand. The National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN) named him their inaugural “Distinguished Neutral of the Year” in 2017.

Lee Jay is very much in demand as a mediator and has gained a reputation for his knowledge of the mediation process and his ability to apply that knowledge to creative ways of resolving complex and highly contentious and emotional disputes. His YouTube channel is filled with dozens of podcast interviews, and he has published numerous articles on mediation and ADR. The American Bar Association will be publishing two of his books in 2022.
