Mayra Fornos brings her considerable expertise, both as a neutral and accomplished litigator with three decades of experience handling a wide range of civil matters, including catastrophic personal injury, which includes spinal cord injury, loss of limb, catastrophic brain injury, and others, to a discussion of the importance of understanding not only the liability and causation issues involved but also other unique complexities of such cases. Mayra is frequently sought out as a speaker and moderator for legal seminars, as well as for expos and events for the injured and disabled community. In her conversation with Len, Mayra discusses, among other things, the use of experts and how to prepare the most effective presentation in a mediation context, preparing your client, and how to get the other side to see things through a different lens. This unique and valuable conversation is not to be missed.

Mayra’s involvement with catastrophic injury is both personal and professional. Following her late husband’s spinal cord injury barely four months into her marriage, at age 22, Mayra and her husband Ralph entered law school together, which resulted in their establishing their own practice predicated on their firsthand experience in navigating the considerable ramifications of living with a life-altering injury. She has been successful in parlaying her keen legal acumen, her empathetic mindset, and her innate interpersonal skills to reach fair and judicious outcomes, regardless of the complexity or difficulty of the case.

Mayra has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2011, Super Lawyers since 2012, and was named one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys in Southern California. She is a recipient of the President’s Award from the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), among other awards, including many for her work to improve the lives of individuals with catastrophic injuries and those in the disability community.
